Music on Mondays: New Shady Ladies podcast

Me and Mary from the Shadow Orchestra have been getting busy with our records and a bottle of rose, creating the third Shady Ladies podcast. This month’s show features funky harp, dodgy German and a folk fight.

Listen, download and subscribe for free from Podbean now!

In this month’s show we’ve got Jarvis Cocker going disco, a surprisingly listenable choice from guitarist NickShadow, the latest single from Revere (who we’re supporting at the Tabernacle on the 18th November) and jazz-funk stylings from harp legend Dorothy Ashby.

Plus we ponder who would win in a fight between Rachel Unthank and Laura Marling. My money’s on the Geordie lass…

Here’s the full tracklisting:

  • Discodeine ft Jarvis Cocker – Synchronise
  • Everything Everything – MY KZ UR BF
  • Shadow Orchestra – No Other
  • Buraka Som Sistema – Kurum
  • Andrew Bird – Not a Robot but a Ghost
  • Phoenix – Rome (Neighbours with Devandra Banhart)
  • Revere – We Won’t Be Here Tomorrow
  • Arthur Russell – Get Around to it
  • John Grant – That’s the Good News
  • Glasser – Tremel (Jamie XX remix)
  • Gorillaz – Empire Ants
  • Dorothy Ashby – Action Line
  • Talking Heads – Houses in Motion
  • Junip – Rope & Summit
  • Rachel Unthank and the Winterset – Blackbird
  • Fink – This is the thing
  • The Cure – Lullaby
  • Sharon Van Etten – Don’t do it
  • Ulrich Schnauss – On my own

Here’s a Spotify playlist with most of the tracks. We’re also on iTunes apparently – just search for Shady Ladies.

And you can download the featured Shadow Orchestra track No Other for absolutely zero pence right here.

We’re back next month with a special Christmas Disco edition. Yay!
